In our shop you will find books from CBK, Tusen SerierWormgod and exquisitely selected international comics found at various festivals in different countries. We also have a comics library section where you with zines, anthologies and graphic novels where you can sit and read in our sofas.

EXHIBITION
The comics in the international comics anthology CBA have been called “supposedly poetical”. They have also been called “witty, challenging and eye-opening”. Judge for yourself when the all-new editorial crew show their own comics and artworks.
Same goes for Tusen Serier, where the inner circle shows their own works along with samples from the upcoming titles.
Artists: Amanda Casanellas, Christina Cromnow, Henrik Rogowski, Kinga Dukaj, Luddvig Melin, Mattias Elftorp, Oskar Aspman, Stefan Petrini, Steve Nyberg, Susanne Johansson, Shko Askari, Amalia Alvarez, Tanja Komadina, Jorge Varas Varilla, and Yossra El Said.

RELEASE: CBA vol 30: A NEW HOPE cbavol30cover
The members of the new crew have made the comics in CBA vol 30: A NEW HOPE, to signal a kind of new beginning for the series, and because we wanted to find out what we’re actually doing. Anything from angst-ridden animals to a psychosomatic virus to a postapocalyptic Malmö and fragments of lego. You have to see for yourself what all this means in the new issue…

JAM COMIC WORKSHOP
Between 16-19 you can join a jam comic workshop where we collectively create a story on the theme of WHATEVER. No pressure, we’re just drawing togehter because it’s fun! No experience required, just bring a bit of imagination!

COMICS!
And of course, all our books will be available, as well as a few extra titles, in the bookstore section.

We’re going until 22 or when we fall asleep/run out of wine!

Review of Find me in this city

Review by Fredrik Strömberg of CBA vol 31: Find me in this city by Mari Ahokoivu:

I can see traces of inspiration here, undoubtedly Tove Jansson and the tale of the invisible child. Probably Mine, une vie de chat, but also of Joanna Rubin Dranger and her Miss Remarkable and Her Career, and even Hayao Miyazaki. But none of that matters. Ahokoivu makes it all her own, and her art is pure visual poetry.

(…)

A beautiful, poetic little book that I will most surely read again.

CBA vol 34-36: Call for submissions

We’ve changed the submission process a bit for CBA. Now we are calling for submissions for three of our upcoming volumes at once, to be able to make better long-term plans.
We’ve also appointed one main editor for each volume. The selection will still be made collectively, but the main editor will have the final say on what goes into their specific volume.

DEADLINE (for all three volumes): May 15

callforsubmissions34-36

So, here are the themes for the upcoming issues:

CBA vol 34 – Re: Creation & Idleness NO MORE SUBMISSIONS FOR THIS VOLUME.
Main Editor: Steve Nyberg
Description: It’s time to put on your leisure suit and get to work on whatever. Whatever you want. Whatever. Is it working? No! It’s not working at all. Maybe it’s a sci-fi utopia. Or is it a fantasy? It’s all the time in the world. Odd moments are even. Time is money and everyone’s a billionaire. Spare some time? Here: free time for everyone! High quality time! No work and all play.

The release of this issue will coincide with the AltCom 2016 festival (July 28-31) and is the antithesis of the festival’s WORK theme.

CBA vol 35 – Bleed NO MORE SUBMISSIONS FOR THIS VOLUME.
Main Editor: Kinga Dukaj
Description: Blood is of the essence.
It can be a mesmerizing thing. Either when it gushes from an artery or trickles down a finger, drips delicately from the ceiling or whooshes in your ears.
Are you sure those chills that run down your spine aren’t ones of pleasure as you notice your fellow passenger picking mindlessly at a scab, and you imagine yourself ripping it off and licking it clean then and there?
NEW DEADLINE FOR THIS VOLUME: AUGUST 1

CBA vol 36 – Fragments of past time NO MORE SUBMISSIONS FOR THIS VOLUME.
Main Editor: Christina Cromnow
Description: The past can be found in the form of small parts inside your body. Some parts are impossible to get rid of. Maybe they’re important, maybe they’re not. But they do exist for a reason. What is your reason?
Even though your past time is out of reach, there is always the possibility of deciding how it will look in front of other people. What would your fragments look like if you showed them in public?

Please see our submission guidelines.

Send questions & comics to submissions [at] cbkcomics [dot] com

Unfortunately, we still can’t pay you anything for participating. You will get 10 free copies, and we hope that you’ll find being in CBA an opportunity to do some non-commercial work and to experiment with the comics as an art form. Consequently, we do accept comics that have already been published elsewhere, as long as we like them and they fit into the themes. Feel free to mention which theme you intend your comic for, but please note that the volume you have in mind may not necessarily be the one your comic ends up in.

AltCom 2016: WORK anthology – call for submissions!

Reposted from the AltCom website:

Time to announce the festival anthology of 2016:

We don’t have all the funding secured yet, but there’s a Kickstarter, so let’s assume that everything will be fine and open this call for submissions anyway!

The theme for this year is WORK, and we would like you to give us your stories interpreting that theme.

WHAT we want:
Pages: 1-5, black/white
Language: English
Format: 140x182mm (a little bit smaller than A5) +5mm bleed on all sides
Files: High-resolution .TIFF, preferably
If you are unsure what we mean by “high-resolution”, please ask. Not sure what we mean by “bleed”? Read this! Lots of artists don’t know, and it’s better to ask than to send us files that we can’t use.Introduction to the theme.

WHEN we want it:
Deadline: May 15

Send questions and submissions to: submissions [at] altcomfestival [dot] se

Please feel free to invite more comics artists to the Facebook event.

anthology_kickstarter

WHO we are:
The AltCom 2016 anthology will be edited by the Hybrid of CBK & Tusen Serier.

As usual, no one gets paid for participating. But on the other hand, no one pays for it either since we’ll be giving the book away for free during and after the festival!

And yes, we do accept comics that have already been published elsewhere, as long as we like them and they fit into the theme.

Finally some NEWS!

Hello again, and welcome to our new website (designed by Kinga Dukaj)!

The new URL is www.cbkcomics.com (but the old one still works).

As you may have noticed, the site has been down for a while for maintenance/remodelling. We’re working on a new online shop that will be up soon, where we will sell all our books and where you can also find books from Tusen Serier, Wormgod and individual publications from the CBK crew. Why will we sell these books as well as our own, you ask? Well, it’s because some of our crew members are also part of these other groups, so we’ve started a cooperation for the distribution to help each other. This will be further developed in the future and books from more related groups will be added.

We are also in the process of moving! Since 2006, we’ve been part of the comics centre at Kulturhuset Mazetti. Now we’re moving in with Tusen Serier in their new space at Mitt Möllan, where we will have a studio/library/comic book shop/exhibition & workshop space. More on this later, when we’ve figured out a name for the place and a date for the moving-in party, which may also be the official release for our new issue: CBAvol30: A New Hope!

Find me in this city is a story about isolation, finding your self and learning to be alone. The book mixes fiction and autobiographic elements. The end result is a fictive story of a girl who has lost her face in a strange city. While she is looking for herself, the cat is looking for the scary yet intriguing dark character who the dog is calling Nightmare. But can you trust a dog who is always lying?
